Typical goofy young Shepherd. Highly intelligent but will test you with her willingness to go into “zoomie” mode if she can get away with it. She loves tennis balls.

Getting to know Stryke (from a handler’s perspective) is a privileged opportunity that not every incarcerated individual gets to experience. As her handler, one of my responsibilities is not only to help prepare her for her future work, but also to understand who she is as a dog. If you are following Stryke because you will someday have the opportunity to welcome her into your home as a service dog, I want you to get to know the dog behind the training. Stryke isn’t just learning commands, she’s developing a personality with the people around her. Here is a little bit about her based on our month together: Favorite Food/Snack – American Sliced Cheese, whole or halved apples, and raw carrots. Favorite activities – Evening walks on the yard and playing solo fetch with her blue handball. Favorite toy – The one that squeaks, and the one that bounces. Favorite Command – “Eat.” Biggest Quirk – Chasing and catching her own tail. Biggest Weakness – Food (any and all treats.) Biggest Strength – Her ability to keep trying. For those who may eventually become part of her future, I hope this profile gives you a glimpse of the little things that make Stryke, Stryke.
